Backhand Stitch
Custom apparel has been a highly manual process that required so much back-and-forth and yielded high risk for error. Placing custom artwork (logos and graphics) on t-shirts, hats, and other apparel proved to be a bigger feat than necessary. That is until YouDesignIt. YouDesignIt wanted to approach their business with a solution to the problem: giving the user the capability of choosing and designing their own apparel with an online application.
Style for Style
In collaboration with YouDesignIt, WBL developed the idea into a "stylish" application. From selecting the type of apparel and the color to ordering any quantity, customers are empowered completely. The user is given the ability to upload their own artwork or logo, place copy and stock artwork on their item. They can even rotate and distort artwork, which is readily viewable after the update. WBL built the user interface (UI) in Flash, which provided a rich user experience. Customers can complete their order through shopping cart/e-commerce functionality developed by Whiteboard.
Ready-to-Share Apparel
Since its launch, YouDesignIt has experienced amazing success. Double-digit growth in both sales and site traffic since launch. Repeat business (loyal customers are a testament to a good application). Copycats (imitation is the best form of flattery).The application was even the talk of the town at the latest FOWA conference (Future of Web Apps) in Miami.
